Like Mother, Like Daughter: Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte are as Cute as Can Be

Little Princess Charlotte was born on May 2, 2015. She’s the second child of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (also known as Will and Kate), and she’s actually fourth in line to the throne, after her grandfather (Prince Charles), father (Prince William), and elder brother (Prince George).

But Charlotte doesn’t seem to know just how majestic she and her family are. In light of her recent birthday, we thought we would shine a spotlight on both Charlotte and her mother, Kate Middleton. The two together, almost always matching in their royal garb, are as cute as can be. And we just can’t get enough of them.

Christmas Day Silliness

Here, Kate and little Princess Charlotte attended Christmas Day mass together. Charlotte was in a funny mood that day, making adorable faces. Kate, with her sleek chocolate brown coat, matched her clutch to Charlotte’s magenta tights. The church service occurred at St. Mark’s Church in Berkshire. Prince William and Prince George were also there.

Perfecting the Queenly Wave

Samantha Burge, the wife of Warrant Officer Class 2 Chris Burge, said Kate and William have strong two-year-olds running their household. “Kate said that Charlotte is growing up really fast. She is the one in charge. We have both got two-year-olds, and they are ruling the roost. It was a bit of a mummy chat.” It looks like here, Kate is teaching Charlotte how to get the wave just right.

Next, another shot from the same moment…

From the Words of the Queen

Source: Pinterest

It looks like Princess Charlotte is well-adjusted to her life of royalty. She might have even quoted her long-deceased relative who served as the Queen of England from 1837 to 1901. Princess Charlotte reportedly said to her royal helpers, “The important thing is not what they think of me, but what I think of them.” These are the famous words spoken by Queen Victoria.

Trooping the Color Parade

Charlotte, who is quite the spitting image of her father, is here with the royal family at the annual Trooping the Color Parade. The parade starts with a moment of silence to reflect on the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire ad recent UK terror attacks. The Queen has only missed one parade in 1955 because the event was canceled due to a national rail strike.

See what Charlotte and Kate wore to Pippa’s wedding…

Aunt Pippa’s Wedding

Is there anyone else who just loves their outfits? Princess Charlotte couldn’t be more adorable in her little flower girl outfit at her auntie Pippa’s wedding. The dress was actually hand embroidered, going perfectly with her dainty flower crown made of baby’s breath. Charlotte’s royal mama matched beautifully with her pastel dress.

Always Matching

Source: Pinterest

The two are always matching! Not only does Kate dress her daughter to be her mini-me, but she also dresses her son, George, just like Dad. At the Queen’s birthday party, Charlotte and Kate matched in summery pink dresses. Charlotte wore a Liberty print dress and Kate wore an Alexander McQueen dress.

Next, a tea party in Canada is where Charlotte started to talk…

Copying Mama

Source: Imgur

At this stage, Princess Charlotte was developing her skills by copying her mommy. If she sees Kate writing or drawing, she attempts to do the same. Charlotte was less than two years old here. At a tea party, people heard Charlotte speak for the first time. Apparently, she asked her mom for a flower since the other little girls were asking for flowers.

Her New Friend

Source: Pinterest

During the royal family’s Canadian tour, Charlotte’s favorite part was this tea party. How could it not be? She got to make friends with a dog and even a rabbit. It’s also really sweet to see how Kate is happy to see her daughter enjoy herself.

Just wait until you see how happy Charlotte was to pet a rabbit…

Princess Charlotte and a Bunny

If there’s anything cuter than Princess Charlotte and Kate, it’s Charlotte hugging a rabbit. At the Canadian tea party, where William and Kate appeared with their children, there was a petting zoo, and Charlotte got to meet this rabbit for the first time.

Leaving Canada

Source: Pinterest

Their tour of Canada was Charlotte’s first time in the country. The Duchess of Cambridge beamed at her little girl while she pointed at the paparazzi. The two were about to hop onto their private jet and head back home. Charlotte in her sweet floral frock and white tights is too cute to handle. Kate, of course, is matching nicely.

Next, the pure joy on Kate’s face says it all…

Pure Joy

There’s nothing like watching your child discover and enjoy music. And the expression on Kate’s face shows that joy while she watches Charlotte pick up this musical instrument and start banging it around. And the fact that she looks like a real-life doll only makes it sweeter to see. Kate’s outfit is superb, by the way.

Putting Her Sweater On

Source: Pinterest

It’s not easy getting your toddlers dressed, let alone putting a cardigan, which can be restricting. But like with everything else, the Dutchess pulls it off with class and style. Something as ordinary as putting on a cardigan is royalty with these two. As independent as Charlotte is, she still needs help with a couple of things.

Next, another shot from their tour of Canada…

Their Canadian Debut

Source: YouTube

When Princess Charlotte was just 16 months old, she made her first trip to Canada. The tour lasted eight whole days, and it included the tea party that we saw before. Mama Kate is obviously matching her daughter as well as her son George. This is a shot of the family just as they landed and got off the plane.

The Balcony Debut

Source: Pinterest

Charlotte made her balcony debut at the Buckingham Palace in her mom’s arms. She was dressed as Kate’s mini-me, wearing a blush baby doll dress and matching pink Mary Jane shoes. Middleton and her family were watching the Royal Air Force flyover. She’s pointing to a plane flying overhead, and Charlotte doesn’t look very interested.

Next, a different kind of family photo!

A Royal Family Ski Trip

Source: Pinterest

This photo is a little further back, as you can Charlotte is younger. But it’s photos like these that show the ‘normalness’ of the royals. They also have cheesy family photos. This photo was taken their vacation to the French Alps. Charlotte’s all dolled up and cozy in her snowsuit and hat. She was all smiles, despite not being able to move much!

The First Family Photo

Source: Twitter

This one goes even further back, which was during Charlotte’s first official family portrait. The royal family posed on a lawn in their proper autumn outfits. Prince George is wearing his signature blue knee socks, and Prince William is smiling over at his family. But Charlotte takes center stage here.

See what it takes to distract Charlotte, next…

After a Long Flight

Source: YouTube

Most kids are not in the best mood after a long flight. When they landed in Canada, Kate tried to cheer up Charlotte who was already over it all. Kate is wearing a classic royal blue outfit and trying to keep Charlotte distracted. She’s amazingly well-behaved, though, as many kids could have a meltdown.

Maybe Not

Source: Pinterest

Okay, so maybe she’s not always well-behaved. But hey, she’s a child! She’s entitled to her random meltdowns every now and then, in between her photo ops. When the royal family was in Hamburg, Germany getting ready to board a private helicopter, Charlotte didn’t have it. But hats off to Kate, who manages to smile through everything.

And now, back to the normal Charlotte…

Charlotte Is All Smiles

Source: CNN

Here we see Charlotte back to her normal self, happy and engaging. You can really see how much she looks like her father in this photo. She completely looks like her father’s side of the family as she even resembles Queen Elizabeth when she was a young child.

Snow Bunny Charlotte

Source: Imgur

Not only is Kate a trendsetter, but so is Charlotte now. When they were on their family ski trip, everyone wanted to know what they were wearing. Every mother with a young daughter wanted to buy the same snowsuit that Charlotte was seen in. Prince William was following in his family’s footsteps as it was a family past time of his mother’s, Princess Diana, to take the boys on regular ski vacations.

A Musical Princess

Source: Pinterest

During their tour of Canada, pretty much everyone gazed upon the royal family in wonder. Prince William and Princess Kate took the children to a children’s party for military families. Charlotte seemed to love the musical instrument. Perhaps the Royals have their own budding musician in the family.

Princess Charlotte Stares in Awe

Source: YouTube

During that tea party, Charlotte got to enjoy a number of children’s activities, but the highlight was the entertainer who made balloon animals for the royal kids. It looks like the entire family was in awe here, but Charlotte couldn’t believe her eyes!

Becoming a New Mom

Source: Twitter

Less than two years after giving birth to Prince George, Kate became a mother of two. And she looks utterly happy to have that status. Princess Charlotte is a newborn in this photo and swaddled in a cozy white blanket with her white hat, sleeping in mom’s arms. It’s only the best place to sleep!

At Her Christening

Source: Pinterest

A Christening is a real milestone for a new baby, and Kate was beyond proud to show off her sweet little girl. Princess Charlotte was in her christening gown which on its own has a long history. It was previously worn by her brother at his christening in 2013. But it’s actually a replica of the gown worn by Queen Victoria’s daughter in 1841.

All Cheeks and Smiles

Source: Pinterest

Charlotte seems to be enjoying her life in the public eye. And with a smile like her mother’s, it’s hard not to fall in love with her. She won over the hearts of millions all around the world. While life in the public eye can be exciting, it can take a toll. Let’s hope she’s able to get somewhat of normal existence in her childhood.

An Angel for a Grandmother

Source: YouTube

This was a PhotoShopped photo that went viral on the internet, showing the late Princess Diana “looking over” at her grandchild. Diana was never able to see her boys grow up to be men or to see William become a father. William has spoken about how he keeps his mother present in his children’s lives by means of photographs in their home and telling stories.

Charlotte and Mama Kate

Source: Pinterest

Here’s a more recent photo of Charlotte. William commented on his daughter, saying “Charlotte is very easy, she is sweet. But all the fathers say to me ‘just you wait, when they get to nine or 11 they get crazy’. I’m looking forward to it. There will be some drama.” That sounds about right. Kids are kids, regardless of if they’re royal or not!

Eyes on the Paparazzi

Source: Twitter

This photo has gazes in all directions, and it looks like Charlotte knows something we don’t. While Princess William said she is “easy,” her mom Kate has been quoted saying, “She’s cute, but she’s feisty!” and then Prince Charles was heard speaking about his granddaughter to a guest he was hosting. The guest commented, “We were talking about grandchildren, he was saying Princess Charlotte does sleep through the night, and it was much easier on mum than Prince George.”

Ssshhh…

Source: Pinterest

Kate definitely looks like a hands-on mom, similar to her late mother-in-law Diana. Kate’s younger sister Pippa Middleton recently got married to longtime boyfriend James Matthews, who’s a hedge fund manager. The couple married in May 2017, and this was at their wedding. Kate was spotted outside of the church with all of the kids, shushing them to make sure they didn’t make noise and disturb the wedding.

Smelling the Roses

Source: Imgur

Kate’s encouraging her Princess daughter to smell the roses. The roses are stunning, in their shade of lavender. When Charlotte was born, Kate was given bespoke drop earrings made by jeweler Kiki McDonough, which she wore while on a royal tour in India. One day, Charlotte will likely inherit the gorgeous earrings.

Charlotte and Her Great Grandma

Source: Pinterest

Not many kids have the chance to meet their great grandparents, but Charlotte has. She’s seen here with her Great Grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. Word on the street is that Charlotte actually favors her great grandmother. And you can also see some resemblance between the two in this photo.

A Royal History

Source: YouTube

William and Harry recently worked on a documentary called, “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy.” In the film, William talked about how he tells his kids about “Granny Diana” and keeps photos out around his home in order to keep her memory alive. He also joked about how she would be as a grandmother: “She’d be a nightmare grandmother, an absolute nightmare. She’d love the children to bits, but she’d be an absolute nightmare. She’d come and go, and she’d come in probably at bath time, cause an amazing scene, bubbles everywhere, bathwater all over the place, and then leave.”

Like Brother, Like Sister

Source: Pinterest

These photos of Charlotte and George were taken at the same event, and the two were even seated right next to one another. Prince George and Princess Charlotte really wear their emotions on their sleeves, or rather their faces.

Her Love for Animals

Source: Twitter

Another look at Charlotte and her new furry friend at the royal tea party. It was the first time Charlotte was seen walking and talking. Charlotte was also heard saying, “Pop!” after pointing to a balloon and also called Prince William “Dada.” She got to meet this dog who was named Moose.

The Great Grandchildren

Source: Pinterest

This is the official royal photograph of Queen Elizabeth with all her great-grandchildren, which really is a remarkable thing. The children include Mia Tindall, James, Viscount Severn, Lady Louise, Savannah, and Isla Phillips, and Prince George, and Princess Charlotte. During this photoshoot, two-year-old Mia Tindall grabbed the Queen’s handbag and posed with it, as you can see on the left. The adults loved it and kept it in the photo.

Precious Moments

Source: YouTube

What’s sweeter than a kid caressing her mom’s face? We just love how easy going Kate seems to be with her kids. Despite being the royal family, they let their children be children. And that’s a beautiful thing! Apparently, George and Charlotte call the queen her Gan Gan.

Matching Sibling Photos

Source: Imgur

After Charlotte was born, official photos were released of the two siblings. This photo is something of a remake of a photo taken of William and Harry when they were little. William said about being a father: “Now the smallest little things, you well up to a little more, you get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world or whatever a lot more, I think, as a father. Just because you realize how precious life is and it puts it all in perspective. The idea of not being around to see your children grow up and stuff like that.”

The Nanny

Source: Pinterest

Kate is definitely a hands-on mum, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t need some help. George and Charlotte also have a nanny that’s with them as well. Her name is Maria Borallo, and she is supposedly a Norland Nanny. Norland Nannies go to a prestigious Norland College, where nannies for the rich, powerful and famous have been trained since 1892. Maria has been with the royal family since being appointed by William and Kate in 2014.

Just a Normal Kid

Source: YouTube

What’s great to see is that despite having extraordinary life circumstances, Kate and William seem to be raising their kids as normally as possible. While we just love seeing the kids grow up, we’re even more excited to see what new photos we’ll get to see of Charlotte and her mom’s matching outfits!
