Love can be found in the strangest of ways, and things aren’t so different when it comes to famous couples. Of course, if you throw a bunch of good looking, talented people into the same industry, romantic relationships start to blossom. It doesn’t come as a surprise that many of these couples met on set or during a photoshoot. It’s like Hollywood never heard of ‘don’t mess business with pleasure,’ and many celebs begin dating people they work with.
However, that’s not always the case. Believe it or not, some relationships in Hollywood start in a pretty ordinary way. Not everyone falls in love on the set of romantic movies. Sometimes, it’s as simple as sending a DM on social media. You’ll never believe which stunning couple met on a blind date. Yeah, celebrities get set up too. Check out Hollywood’s “It” couples and how their relationships began. Maybe it will give the rest of us some hope.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner
We all know Joe Jonas as a member of the former Disney band, the Jonas Brothers. So how did this rocker get with the gorgeous Game of Thrones actress? Apparently, Jonas randomly slid into Sophie’s DMs in 2016, and the two of them hit it off. Yeah, it was really that simple.
During an interview with Harper’s Baazaar UK, Turner explained: We were following each other on Instagram and he direct-messaged me one fine day, out of the blue.” After that, the two started dating, and in 2017, Joe popped the question. The pair have been happily married since May 1st, 2019.
Dylan Sprouse and Barbara Palvin
Similarly to his fellow- former Disney star Joe Jonas, Dylan Sprouse also began dating his lady through social media. The stunning Instagram model was probably a Zack & Cody fan because she started following the actor. Sprouse told W magazine, “She followed me, so I was like, ‘I guess I’ll give her something.’ And I slid into her DMs.”
He went on to say, “I was like, ‘Hey, I don’t know if you’re in New York for very long, but we should hang out if you want to. Here’s my number.’ And she didn’t message me for six months.” But, as soon as they did start hanging out, they had a connection. Palvin said, “With Dylan, everything seemed so easy.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship has been plastered all over the media since the royal, and the actress got engaged. Their first public appearance took place in Toronto, Canada, in September 2017. The couple was in town for the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games and announced their engagement two months later.
Many people wonder how the Prince of England and the Suits actress even crossed paths. Well, this unlikely couple thank their friends for setting them up. On May 19th, 2018, they tied the knot in a very public televised ceremony at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in England. On May 6th, 2019, the pair welcomed their first son, Archie, into the world.
Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich
The stunning and talented Julianne Hough is mostly known for her time on Dancing with the Stars. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the dancer ended up with another athlete to match her stamina. But how did Hough meet her NHL bae? They were simply set up through mutual friends.
If only my friends would set me up with a hunk like Brooks Laich. In August 2015, Laich proposed to his beautiful girlfriend, and by July 2017, the two finally got their wedding. It was a weekend-long celebration with family and friends at a lakeside ceremony near Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. The two are happy and still going strong.
Kym Johnson and Robert Herjavec
Another Dancing with the Stars pro ended up with an unlikely match. Well… it’s not that unlikely. Kym Jonson was partnered up with Robert Herjavec in 2015 for season 20 of the dance reality show. She is a talented Australian ballroom dancer, and he is a Canadian businessman and television personality.
It would be a little random for these two to cross paths so they can thank Dancing with the Stars for bringing them together. The pair tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in July 2016. They now have adorable one-year-old twins named Haven Mae and Hudson Robert. The family is seemingly happy and doing well.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen
Many of us feel uncomfortable when our friends try to set us up. It’s always a little awkward when you go on a date with someone you don’t know. These two decided to give it a shot, and look what happened? She got an NFL hunk, and he ended up with a supermodel. In 2019, Brady told Details Magazine, “This friend told me he knew a girl version of me.”
Gisele then jumped in from the background, saying, “And he said to me he’s found a boy version of me.” At the time, Brady just got out of a relationship (with Bridget Moynahan) and agreed to meet the model for dinner in NYC. Since that fateful dinner, the pair got married and started a family.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
This is a Hollywood power couple whose relationship has been plastered on magazine covers everywhere. From their shocking romance to infamous divorce, Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie are no strangers to the headlines. The two first met in 2004 on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and the rest is history.
However, when rumors of their relationship began circulating, Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. Eventually, the heartthrob began dating and then marring Jolie. They seemed like the perfect couple, but 12 years and six children later, they called it quits. Brangelina fans everywhere were heartbroken and hoped they would get back together. Unfortunately, they never did, but they do stay on good terms for the kids.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner
Daredevil was not a good movie. You probably have never even heard of it, but if you did, you know the 2003 Superhero was a complete flop. However, Affleck said that there is one beautiful bright side to the box office failure. In 2013, the actor told Playboy Magazine, “That’s where I found my wife.”
He continued, “We met on Pearl Harbor, which people hate, but we fell in love on Daredevil.” The two had a deep connection, got married, and started a family together. Sadly, it didn’t work out, and they announced their split in 2015; by 2017, the divorce was official. They continue to get along so that they can co-parent their three children.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith
We can’t talk about famous Hollywood couples without bringing up Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. The two seem to have been together forever and have two talented children, Jayden and Willow. But how did this romance first begin? Jada told YourTango, “I met him when I was 19 at an audition for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
However, she wasn’t immediately attracted to Smith, and it took them a while to begin dating. She went on to say, “After we had known each other for many years, we went out for dinner one night, and I saw that he had grown from this lanky kid to this really responsible man. We started courting each other, and our friendship turned into a romance.”
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux
Don’t worry. After Brad Pitt left Jennifer Aniston for Jolie, she wasn’t left stranded and alone. It’s no surprise that it didn’t take the gorgeous actress to bounce back and get snatched. But that doesn’t mean it was love at first sight. In 2007, Aniston met Justin Theroux for the first time on the set of Tropic Thunder.
The actress told Pop Sugar her first opinion of the American Psycho actor. “I thought he was very sweet and always very nice. But I remember thinking he was very dark.” She added, “At first, you think he could be a serial killer, but he is actually the nicest person in the world.” Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to last forever. The pair divorced in 2017.
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton seem like an unlikely couple. Rumors about the two were going around for a while, but nobody knew for sure. When they first started working together, both singers were married to other people and kept it professional.
They both coincidentally ended their long-term marriages around the same time and found comfort in one another. By November 2015, they healed each other’s hearts and began dating each other.
Giuliana Rancic and Bill Rancic
The Fashion Police co-star first saw her future husband at an NBC party and thought he was a “cutie pie.” But nothing really came out of their first encounter. Giuliana was still dating her ex-boyfriend at the time, so she didn’t pursue Bill Rancic. She never thought she would marry this guy, but that doesn’t mean she forgot all about him. They got to meet again soon enough.
Giuliana was excited when she eventually got to interview him on E! News. Rancic told Us that after the interview, he asked the stunner out in the parking lot, “and the rest is history.” The couple has been married since 2007 and is still going strong. They have one son together named Edward Duke Rancic.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are another super attractive Hollywood couple that met through friends. Considering they both work in the entertainment industry, it’s not surprising that they run in some of the same circles. But their romance started in kind of an old school way.
Timberlake said: “There was nothing starry about the way we got together. It was very un-Hollywood-esque, in fact. We met and got talking. Afterward, I asked my friends if I could call her and asked her out. My friend called Jessica and Jessica said yes, and so I called her. I did it the old fashioned way- by telephone.” The pair have been married since 2012, and they have one son together, Silas Randall Timberlake.
Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling
Gosling and Mendes knew each other from around Hollywood, but they really fell in love while filming The Place Beyond the Pines. The director told Moviefone that “He said, ‘You should meet with Eva because she’s great, I think she’s got a lot to offer that maybe people haven’t seen which would be great’ so I said ‘okay.'”
It’s a good thing he agreed because the actors felt a deep connection and fell in love on set. Eva is a lucky woman and took the heartthrob off the market. The gorgeous couple has two kids together, Esmeralda Amanda Gosling and Amanda Lee Gosling.
David Beckham and Victoria Beckham
Apparently, the soccer stud had his eyes on his future wife before he even met her! The two officially met for the first time in a 1997 Manchester United Charity Match. Beckham admitted that he had a crush on Victoria Beckham when he saw in her in the Spice Girls music video for “Say you’ll be the same” (Yeah, I didn’t know she was in that either).
Anyway, Beckham opened up and revealed what he thought of her. “That’s the girls for me, and I’m going to get her. She’s my idea of perfection. I knew that if she wanted me, we would be together forever.” He wasn’t wrong. The couple is still going strong and has been together since 1999. That’s like a lifetime in Hollywood years.
Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman
Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman are another couple that met through mutual friends. They were first introduced to each other in 2008, shortly after Hathaway and her ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, split up. Her heart wasn’t broken for long. Shulman managed to sweep her off her feet, and she began dating him.
The actress wasn’t shy about her relationship and showed off her bae. She invited the jewelry design to take her to red carpets events, and their blossoming romance went public. Shulman got down on one knee and proposed to Hathaway in November 2011. They tied the knot in September 2012 and are still happily married. They also have two sons together, Jonathan and Jack.

The beautiful music couple got married in a gorgeous ceremony in April 2008. In January 2012, they had their first daughter, Blue Ivy. Then, the family got even bigger in 2017, when they welcomed their twins, Sir and Rumi.
Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson
We all remember when Jessica Simpson was married to Nick Lachey in the early 2000s. As much as we (and probably them) want to forget it ever happened, their MTV reality show, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, was a real thing. Well, after their relationship ended, so did their reality show. Jessica has since found someone else- guitarist Eric Johnson.
When they started hooking up in May 2010, Johnson was estranged from his wife of five years, stylist Keri Johnson. The Yale graduate gave up getting his MBA at Wharton so that he can marry Jessica Simpson. They tied the knot in 2010 and share two children, Maxwell and Ace. As for Lachey, we’ll get to him later.
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are the perfect definition of the phrase ‘love at first sight.’ They met the first time in 2004, and de Rossi revealed her first impression of the popular talk show host in a 2011 interview with CBS Sunday morning. “I instantly adored her.”
She went on to explain, “But I was very closeted and very heavy. And I thought that no one would ever love me if they knew I was gay and especially if they saw I was fat.” Thankfully, none of that bothered Ellen. “The fact that she noticed me at that point and liked who I was was kind of significant. Yeah, it was great.” The couple married in 2008 and couldn’t be happier.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
Kim and Kanye briefly met in passing, but Kim Kardashian admitted that Jimmy Kimmel is the reason she got together with her hubby. The reality star was infamously married to Kris Humphries for 72 hours before getting with Kanye. Luckily, her second marriage lasted longer than that. Kardashian married Kanye in 2014, and to everyone’s surprise, they are still together. They even welcomed four children into the Kardashian dynasty, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone
Andrew Garfield said he immediately saw something special in his co-star while filming The Amazing Spiderman. They actually met in the audition process for the superhero movie, and in 2012, Garfield told MTV News, “We got on really well as people, in between [takes].”
He went on to say, “That was the fun stuff: In between, we’d just mess around, and I felt, ‘Ah, this is different.’ I wasn’t really aware of what was happening in the screen test. She keeps you on your toes, and that wakes you up. That was the beginning. Sadly, these two called it quits in 2014, after spending more than four years together.
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden were also introduced to each other through friends. The mutual pal that connected them was Nicole Richie. The former reality star married to Good Charlotte member Joel Madden in 2010. She did what any good friend would do, and set the actress up with his twin brother, Benji.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden
As we mentioned, Nicole Richie was the link that connected Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden. But how exactly did the former Simple Life star meet her Good Charlotte husband? In April 2013, the rocker revealed that they were already friends, but she didn’t want to date him. Eventually, he managed to persuade her.
Madden said he had to be persistent with her. “I’m always like, ‘just give me a shot, just give me one date.’ If I can get my foot in the foot in the door, that’s how it’s always been with girls. I’ve never been the obvious [choice].” In the end, she made the right choice when she gave him a chance. They have two children together and have been married since 2010.
LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian
When they first hooked up on the set of their Lifetime movie Northern Lights, LeAnn Rimes, and Eddie Cibrian were both married. After they were spotted getting a little too close over dinner in March 2009, Us Weekly revealed the two stars were having a steamy affair. Unsurprisingly, both parties divorced after the news broke.
Conveniently, now they were free to marry each other. During a promo for his VH1 reality show, Cibrian said, “We were both married to other people. Nick first met Vanessa Minnillo on the set of his 2006 music video, What’s Left of Me. I guess mixing business and pleasure is pretty common in Hollywood. The couple dated for a while before a short break in 2009. They got married in 2011 and have two sons, Camden and Phoenix, and one daughter, Brooklyn. If you want to see them now, they host the Netflix reality show, ‘Love is Blind.’
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick
Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian met before the Kardashians became reality star royalty. Once upon a time, they were regular folks like the rest of us. Well… kind of. They didn’t meet on set or on a red carpet. Instead, they met through a mutual friend, Joe Francis. Sure, they met in his home down in Punta Mita, Mexico, but it was before everyone recognized their faces.
Scott and Kourtney met in early 2007, right before Keeping Up with the Kardashians started. Nowadays, both are a lot more selective with how they meet people. Sadly, they broke up in 2015, but they have three kids together, Mason, Penelope, and Reign. The two manage to keep their differences aside to co-parent their children. Scott is currently in a serious relationship with Sophia Richie.
Prince William and Duchess Kate
In Katie Nicholl’s biography, Kate: The Future Queen, the author revealed that the Duke and Duchess actually met way before they enrolled at St. Andrews University. “I was speaking to some of her friends in Marlborough School, which was where she went before St. Andrews, and they said ‘uh uh, she didn’t meet him at St. Andrews. She met him before she got there… through some of her friends. They knew Prince William and Prince Harry.”
That’s how they met, and eventually, they fell in love. The royal couple got married in 2011, and they now have three children together, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Wow, it must be nice to be born into royalty.
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin
George Clooney seems to have found his perfect match. After he broke up with his girlfriend of two years, Stacy Keibler, Clooney met a new woman in a 2013 charity event. It took a little bit of persistence, but eventually, the actor won over Amal Alamuddin’s heart. He certainly wasn’t thinking about his ex after meeting the London-based lawyer.
The two hit it off really well and quickly began dating. By April 2014, Clooney popped the question and proposed to his girlfriend! They got married later that year. They have since built a family together and share a son and a daughter, Alexander, and Ella.
Vincent Kartheiser and Alexis Bledel
When the Mad Men actor first met Alexis Bledel on the set of the AMC series, he had no idea who she was. She was a guest-starring as a mentally unstable woman for a few episodes back in 2012. When he described first meeting the Gilmore Girls alum, Kartheiser said, “We were completely professional.”
His co-star Jon Hamm added that he knew that Kartheiser had a crush on her the whole time. “I did know he liked her from a very early point… I was a supporter of that union. They tied the knot in 2014 and are currently still together. In 2015, they became proud parents of a beautiful baby boy.
Eva Longoria and Jose Baston
The stunning actress met the handsome businessman in October 2013, shortly after her breakup with Ernesto Arguello, another entrepreneur. A source close to the couple told Us, “He is super sweet to her and a complete gentleman.” If only all men acted like gentlemen! Learn from Jose Baston, boys!
They knew they were meant to be together. The Desperate Housewives star married Baston in a beautiful ceremony in 2016. The couple gushes about one another in interviews, and it’s clear they can’t get enough of each other. They started a family together and welcomed a boy named Santiago Enrique Baston in 2018.
Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson
Believe it or not, the Good American founder met the NBA star on a blind date! That’s right, Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson were set up. Who would have thought? The reality star revealed on a tenth anniversary special of KUWTK, “I was at the Bel-Air Hotel. He came to the dinner. I didn’t want to go on a blind date.”
She continued to explain, “So [our mutual friend] kind of ambushed the blind date. So I had a bunch of people, and he brought him, and we just connected.” Unfortunately, Tristan wasn’t faithful, so his relationship with Khloe didn’t last. They share a beautiful baby girl named True, and they try to get along for the sake of their daughter.
