New Girl
New Girl is a popular and hilarious sitcom that aired for seven seasons. A Christmas Story
Admit it. There is no better way to get into the Holiday Spirit that re-watching A Christmas Story over and over again. 10 Things I Hate About You is a classic rom-com starring Julia Stiles and the late Heath Ledger. Even though it was released in the late ’90s, this is an all-time favorite. In 2018, this famous house went on the market for $1.6 million. It’s gorgeous (and famous), so the price doesn’t really surprise me. Bird Box
Bird Box is a post-apocalyptic horror-thriller starring Sandra Bullock. The suspenseful movie surrounds a woman and two children trying to travel, but without removing their blindfolds. Watching the characters try to move around without blindfolds can be quite stressful, but the movie has a fascinating ending.
If you saw the 2018 film, you’re probably familiar with this house. It is located in a Los Angeles Suburb, and many fans covered the location at the height of the movie’s popularity. In real life, this house hit the market for 1.5 million in 2016 and is still a private residence.

The 1993 Halloween flick is considered a classic nowadays, so it’s only fitting that it became a museum. Each October, ABC airs this movie 20 times! TV watchers everywhere are at least familiar with the house. If you were spooked out by this movie as a kid, I’m sure you would love to visit the house (museum) now. Breaking Bad was a hit TV series that ran for five seasons. In addition to being able to stay in this house, you can even get married there. I don’t know why anyone would choose to start their marriage at the creepy house from Scream, but who am I to judge?
Dexter
If you like crime drama, Dexter is a show for you. The main character, Dexter, is so complex. He is a blood splatter analyst, and you find yourself rooting for him, even though you know he is a serial killer. Most of the scenes for the show are filmed in Long Beach, California, but that’s not where the house is located.
In real life, Dexter’s sun-faded apartment is located in South Florida. His apartment complex is actually the Bay Harbor Clun Condos in Miami Beach. If you want to check it out, the address is 1155 103rd St. (at Bay Harbor Club) Miami Beach, FL. Since it is a private residence, you have to be a member to enter. However, if you continue to drive east, you should have a good view of the complex.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Harry Potter is an iconic book series by JK Rowling, which exploded into a movie franchise. Ever since Harry was brought into the magical world of Hogwarts, he knew where he belonged. But before he was fighting Voldemort, Harry lived with his cousin Dudley and his evil aunt and uncle. The House is featured in the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
The house is remembered for being surrounded by owls when the Dursley’s hid Harry’s acceptance letter to Hogwarts. The house used for the exterior shots is actually located in 12 Picket Post Close, Bracknell, Berkshire. The interior is different, however. The Silence of the Lambs
The silence of the Lambs is a well-known psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The film was released in 1991 and starred Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling. In the movie, Clarice is being stalked by “Buffalo Bill” in this house. If you want to stop by there, it’s located near Pittsburgh in rural Pennsylvania.
The address is 8 Circle Street, Layton, Pennsylvania. The house was sold in 2016 for almost $200,000. Would you want to move into the house? Fortunately for the new owner, the basement used in the movie was filmed on a soundstage. The scariest thing about this house is the fact that it has five bedrooms but just one bathroom! Yikes!
Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, was a Disney Channel icon. Although they made a recent remake, nothing can compete with the original 90s version starring Melissa Joan Hart. Who can forget the Spellman house? There were doors leading to other worlds, Salem (the talking cat), and of course, her two cool aunts. For childhood nostalgia, you can go visit the house.
Unfortunately, the Spellman Manor is not the magical home that you remember. Today, the house is actually holding multiple businesses. The Holiday
The Holiday is a 2006 seasonal flick starring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. The movie is filmed in both California and England. The story surrounds two women who end up switching homes and living in each other’s country after some boy problems. Of course, they both end up finding a local guy and falling in love!
In the movie, Kate Winslet’s character was stunned when she left her small UK cottage and moved to an LA mansion, and who can blame her? The house featured a pool, media room, tennis court, spa, and a rose garden. You can visit this gorgeous house at 1883 Orlando Road, San Marino, CA. The location quickly turned into a tourist attraction for movie fans.
Downtown Abbey
Downtown Abbey is a historical period drama show based in the early 20th century. The British television series first premiered in September 2010 in the UK, and in January 2011 in the US. The series is basically a chronicle of the British aristocratic Crawley family and their servants. If you are familiar with the show, this isn’t the first time you’ve seen this house.
If you want to truly feel what it’s like to be Lady Grantham, you can just take a trip to the primary filming location. For about 60 or 70 dollars a day, the location and select parts of the castle are open to the public. Unfortunately, that means most days out of the year it’s closed. However, if you plan your trip correctly, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Halloween
Halloween was remade in 2018, but the original slasher film came out in 1978. The movie managed to scare all audiences. The Story is about a man who escapes a mental institution fifteen years after he murdered his sister on Halloween. He returns to his small Illinois town to kill again. Halloween is a horror flick that has become a classic.
That’s why it’s not too surprising that the house is now a South Pasadena Historic Landmark and a full art gallery devoted to the film. This means that you can visit whenever you want. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
There is no way we can make a list of famous houses without including this one. In The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Will Smith’s character is a trouble maker sent to live with his aunt and uncle. As punishment, he gets to live in this now-iconic TV mansion. The exterior shots are of a house near Brentwood, not Bel-Air.
The 70-year-old mansion features two floors and 17 rooms! Among these are five bedrooms, 4 baths, a master-suit, fireplaces, a pool, a spa, and so much more. There is even a detached 3-car garage. The house is on 251 North Bristol Avenue, Los Angeles, CA. Unfortunately, Will Smith doesn’t live there. It is a private residence, so don’t try to trespass.
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Ferris Bueller’s day off is an infamous movie about a high school student who wanted to ditch school for a day. Sounds relatable, right? I can use a day off. Well, his infamous day of adventures was set in Chicago. However, that’s not exactly where the movie was filmed. Ferris Bueller’s traditional Colonial house is actually in Long Beach, California.
It’s a long shot from Chicago, but I guess it makes more sense that the house is in California. What’s interesting about this house is that it wasn’t just used for exterior shots. Groundhog Day
Groundhog Day is another must-see film. This hilarious movie stars Bill Murray, who finds himself living the same day over and over again, Groundhog Day. Can you imagine how annoying that would be? I wouldn’t even be able to tell anybody because I know how unbelievable it sounds. Anyway, just like in the movie, the Victorian is actually bed and breakfast.
That’s right. You can even stay there now if you want. It’s called the Cherry Tree Inn bed and breakfast, and it’s not located in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. You can actually find it in Woodstock, Illinois. The address is 344 Fremont Street, Woodstock, IL. If you are ever in the area, you should definitely stay at this spectacular house.
The Notebook
When I think of a classic romance novel, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks comes to mind. When the book was made into a movie starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, it left audiences in tears. We couldn’t get enough of their love story. A notable part of the story is when Noah builds the house the way Aly pictured it, proving he still loves her.
Unfortunately, no one actually renovated the house. The filmmakers decided to use the already beautiful Martins Point home, which obviously makes more sense. The just made it look run down for the “before” scenes. If you want to rent out this 5-bedroom 4.5 bathroom home, it will only cost you $12,000 a month! Home Alone
Okay, let’s be real here. If you are a 90s kid, you most likely wished you had Kevin McAllister’s amazing house. I mean, do you remember how cool that staircase was? Although decades have passed since the movie was released, Home Alone remains a pure classic, especially during the holiday seasons. Plus, Macaulay Culkin was the most adorable kid in the world.

A Star is Born
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper took the world by storm when they appeared in the remake of A Star is Born together. The tragic love story was incredible, but so was their house! Fans think that they have found the house that the couple used as their rock star hideaway.
The house is very possibly in rural Calabasas and featured four-bed, three-bath. Although nobody from the cast or crew confirmed this, none of them denied it either. Mrs. Doubtfire
If you are a Robin William’s fan, there is no way you didn’t love the 1993 classic, Mrs. Doubtfire. It’s a heartfelt family film that is a huge part of the childhood of 90s kids everywhere, making the house, easily recognizable.

Let’s be honest, about a decade ago, Edward Cullen was the most attractive vampire on our screens. In Twilight, Rob Pattinson did an incredible job bringing his character to life. This unbelievable house looks so cool because it was built on a slope, giving the illusion that it is floating among trees. It just looks so calming. Top Gun
Top Gun is an 80’s thriller surrounding a young pilot who managed to learn a lot from his civilian instructor. This memorable movie is even being remade and called, Top Gun: Maverick, it’s expected to be released on June 25th, 2020. This adorable 500 square foot blue cottage, is where Maverick (Tom Cruise), waited when he was late for his dinner with Charlie.
This home was only used for exterior shots. We saw Tom Cruise waiting on that porch. For all you Top Gun fans that want to pay this house a visit, it’s located at 102 N Pacific St Oceanside, CA. If you’re in the area, you can just go over there and snap a picture of the home.
Friends
Friends is another show that needs no introduction. The timeless series follows six friends in their thirties, living in Manhattan. We get to see them navigate their personal and professional lives with the perfect amount of comedy and drama. If you grew up watching this show as I did, you definitely recognize the iconic apartment building.
Obviously, most of the show was filmed on a set at Warner Brothers Studios. This means that the apartment complex was only used for exterior shots. The actual location exists in Greenwich Village in New York. If you want to see this nostalgic building, the address is 90 Bedford St. New York, NY. I was delighted to find out that there is a little café right under the real apartment.
The Money Pit
The Money Pit is a 1986 film starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long. The young couple was having a difficult time trying to fix up a dilapidated home. For the exterior shots featured in the movie, this stunning 8-bedroom mansion was used. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to find Tom Hanks’s briefcase at the residence.
This hilarious movie makes this house seem the biggest fixer-upper catastrophe. It turns out, the owner of the house is a 1952 gold medal Olympian. If you want to stop by this gorgeous mansion, the address is 199 Feeks Lane, Lattingtown, NY. This private residence was recently on the market, so an astonishing $5.9 million.
The Odd Life of Timothy Green
The Odd Life of Timothy Green is a family-friendly comedy-drama. The heartwarming story surrounds a couple with no children, who bury a box filled with their wishes for a child. Well, Timothy Green wasn’t the only thing that appeared. Just looking at this house, it’s easy to see why the film-makers picked it to be Jennifer Garner’s fictional house for the movie.
If you want to see this pretty home, it’s located at 155 Greenville St. Newnan, GA. Unsurprisingly, right before it was used for the Disney Film, the property was actually used as bed and breakfast. That looks like such a cute place to stay. It has some southern charm, which makes the residence even more inviting.
Sixteen Candles
Sixteen Candles is an 80’s rom-com starring Molly Ringwald. Her character, Sam, is dreading her 16th birthday. Basically, everything that can go wrong does. It’s been over three decades since this movie was released, but it has remained a fan favorite. If you watched this movie, you are probably familiar with the home that’s featured.
Sam lives a traditional yet stunning brick home. Believe it or not, this house is actually located on a tree-lined street in a suburb, about 30 minutes away from Chicago. Poltergeist
If you like demonic ghosts, haunted houses, and a good scare, this 1982 thriller is for you. Written by Steven Spielberg, it’s not too surprising that Poltergeist was a good movie. Well, if you’re fascinated by haunted houses like I am, you are probably interested in the house that is being haunted in the movie.
It’s a little disappointing to find out that this house is actually located in a family-friendly neighborhood on a quiet street in California. It’s not at all haunted, but it does look identical to when it was used for the film. If you want to see it in person, the address is 4267 Roxbury St Simi Valley, CA. Just remember, people live there, so be respectful.
Twilight
I know we already mentioned Twilight, but we only spoke about the Collins’ house. Kristen Stewart beautifully portrays Bella Swan, and this is her father’s fictional home. If you saw (and loved) the movie, this adorable property probably looks familiar. It may not surprise you to hear that in real-life, this home is located in Oregon, not Forks Washington.
As you can see, the property still has many of the same features as it did when it was used in Twilight, even Bella’s bedroom. Just looking at these pictures takes me back to Twilight’s heyday. Roseanne
In the late-80s and early-90s, Rosanne took over the TV screens in America. The comedy was focused on an American working-class family and starred Rosanne Barr. In fact, the show was so popular that it even came back for a reboot. Like most of the houses on this list, the interior and exterior aren’t the same.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Although it was released back in the ’60s, Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of the most iconic movies in Hollywood. Audrey Hepburn’s portrayal of Holly Golightly has become legendary. The character is a young New York socialite who develops a crush on a man who moves into her building. One of the most memorable parts of this film is the apartment.
Reportedly, this apartment has a huge living room, perfect for throwing extravagant parties, which is very important. If you want to see the building used for the exterior shots, its located at 169 71st Street, New York, NY. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to go inside the building. However, you can just imagine Hepburn gracefully floating down the staircase.
The Brady Bunch
Even if you never watched this show, you have definitely heard of The Brady Bunch. The show is about a woman with three daughters, and a man with three sons. After they get married and merge their families, we get to watch the dynamic. Technically a few different houses were featured on the show, but this was also used in the movie.
Here is a little fun fact about the Brady house. It is the second most photographed house in America, right after the White House. If you also want a picture of it, you can swing by. Sex and The City
This is the apartment featured in both the TV show and the Sex and the City movie. If you are a fan, you know that Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment was a pretty significant part of the show. If we are being real here, it was basically the fifth main character throughout the series. TV buffs can often be spotted outside the cute and loveable apartment.

They actually decided to block the stairs with a chain and added a “no trespassing” sign. Please be respectful of their wishes if you do happen to drive by.
